Changing of the guard in Münster: high above the city, in ‘Café 1648’, service technician Guido Tegelkamp has his successor Christoph Schäper at his side. Together they look after the Melitta® Cafina® XT8 fully automatic coffee machine, which has dispensed around 30,000 products in a year here on the 11th floor of the Stadthaus. A second XT8 on the floor above even more than doubles this cup output. In addition to the panoramic view over the city centre of Münster and the attractive range of products made in-house, it is also the special atmosphere that makes the café such a popular place. Named after the Peace of Westphalia, Café 1648 is run by the Alexians as an inclusive business in which people with and without disabilities work together.
Even though he is now retiring after a good 48 years of work, 32 of them at Melitta, Guido Tegelkamp has not yet reached the end of his career up here. ‘I can't let go of my passion for coffee,’ he says in the café with a view. The senior technician will be supporting projects in the International Customer Service team two days a week in future. His experience - peppered with exciting assignments outside Münsterland, from the North Sea island to the Black Forest to Kosovo and the USA - is still in demand at Melitta Professional. And he loves coming back here to ‘Café 1648’ as a guest: ‘It's always a pleasure with the team and the people here’. His colleague Bernd Billik can only confirm this. The area manager responsible for Melitta Professional in the Münsterland region took the opportunity to attend the on-site visit and expressly thank Guido Tegelkamp for his consistently trusting cooperation.
His successor Christoph Schäper brings 13 years of experience as a coffee machine technician to Melitta Professional and already feels ‘right at home’ at his mentor's side, he says. From a technical point of view, it's great to look after high-level machines developed and manufactured in-house in the customer service department. And on a personal level, it's even better at the Melitta family business. He was already able to experience this in a larger group at the Melitta Group's summer party in Minden.
