Come and go in Münster

Service technician Guido Tegelkamp has his successor Christoph Schäper at his side in Café 1648

Changing of the guard in Münster: high above the city, in ‘Café 1648’, service technician Guido Tegelkamp has his successor Christoph Schäper at his side. Together they look after the Melitta® Cafina® XT8 fully automatic coffee machine, which has dispensed around 30,000 products in a year here on the 11th floor of the Stadthaus. A second XT8 on the floor above even more than doubles this cup output. In addition to the panoramic view over the city centre of Münster and the attractive range of products made in-house, it is also the special atmosphere that makes the café such a popular place. Named after the Peace of Westphalia, Café 1648 is run by the Alexians as an inclusive business in which people with and without disabilities work together.

Which espresso will it be?

What does this do to espresso? Will/must its flavour profile change? What flavours must/may a modern espresso have?

Stefanie Heidemann, Training Manager at Melitta Professional and international judge for the Speciality Coffee Association (SCA), answered these questions for Kaffee & Co. (August 2024) magazine. You can read her detailed answer here.

Tea water dispensed at exactly the right temperature

Perfect for Earl Grey, Rooibos Lime Ginger, Gourmet Herbal Tea or Blood Orange Organic, but clearly too hot for Green Manjolai and Japan Sencha: the boiling point is not the right brewing temperature for every tea variety. Green tea flavors develop best between 60 and 80 degrees, depending on blend and personal taste. Melitta Professional has therefore developed its new hot water dispensers Melitta® Cafina® XT HW6 and HW9 for convenient, temperature-accurate preparation of an attractive range of teas for the out-of-home market. Six or nine liters of water can be stored and set to the desired temperature between 50 and 98 degrees using the touchscreen display.
